Tanzania Lodge Safaris

There are usually 3 types of accommodation which you can stay in whilst on safari in Tanzania, they are basic camping - which means roughing it in a small tent on a campsite just outside the boundaries of the park, tented camps - these chalet link buildings have a tented roof, but a solid based built out of wood or stone and finally we have lodges - probably the most luxurious out of the 3, lodges usually have a bar and restaurant and then the rooms are close-by. Here are a few of my favourite specific accommodations I have stayed in whilst in Tanzania.

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge - Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area

A very luxurious lodge, with a breath taking view of one of the most stunning views in the world, of the Ngorongoro Crater. The rooms on the front row of the crater rim also have a fascinating view of the crater, not to mention the swimming pool which overlooks the same amazing view. The food at the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is second to none, with a few different dishes to choose from - theres something for every taste. There is also an evening ceremony in the lobby where a group of Masai come to sing and dance traditionally.

Kikoti Tented Camp - Tarangire National Park

The rooms of Kikoti have their own private verandas, where morning tea or coffee is served, and night time catch ups can be had over a glass of your favourite tipple. The rooms are furnished to a very high standard, and have en suit showers which are heated upon request. There is also a very nice restaurant and bar at Kikoti, where you can enjoy a nice range of foods and drinks.

Mapito Tented Camp - Serengeti National Park

Mapito tented camp is situated just outside of the boundaries of the Serengeti, and has a nice open space surrounding it, which is inhabited by wildlife and lush scenery. At night, you will be treated to a lovely campfire with seating around it, and will be encouraged to join in with some bow and arrow shooting with the camps guards. You will also be able to hear the animals of the bush, such as hyena when you are tucked up in bed at night! The food at the camp is delicious, and is set out as a help yourself buffet - with many meal options to choose from. For safari deals and discounts click here
